John Krasinski Would Love to Direct A Quiet Place 2 – But May Not

John Krasinski would love to run A Quiet Place 2, the successor to last year’s supernatural thriller A Quiet Place, but he still has to decide. A quiet place was praised by critics and fans alike, so Paramount announced shortly after its release that it was already a sequel to development. The continuation of the post-apocalyptic film is scheduled for May 2020.

A quiet place followed the Abbott family and their efforts to survive in a world where the sound can kill you. There was an alien invasion in this universe, and when society realized that creatures hunted on the basis of noise, all survivors learn to live without making any noise. Like Netflix’s Bird Box, the Abbott struggle to survive as they raise a family during the Apocalypse. The cast consisted of John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, Millicent Simmonds, Cade Woodward and Leon Russom. Krasinski is working on the script for A Quiet Place 2, but has now shown interest in directing the succession.

In an interview with the New York Times, Krasinski said he would like to turn back, but he still is not sure if he will come back. He mentions that he had a small idea that would fit into the universe of the first film, and that Paramount disliked other authors’ publications. He admits that if he can not figure out what to do next, he will give permission to another filmmaker. When asked about the sequel, Krasinski stated:

Paramount asked me if I would write it and I do it now, but I’m still thinking about what I want to do next. If I can decipher the idea, I’d like to redirect it, and if I can not, I’d like to hand it over to someone else with my fingerprints to make sure it gets addressed.

In the past, Krasinski has hinted that another family will be the focus of attention. However, it is not yet known if the Abades are completely excluded or not. Krasinski was very involved in the first film because he not only wrote the script, but was also director of the film. A Quiet Place received advance comments from film festivals and was able to prove his first place at the box office several times. Unfortunately, if the character of Krasinski reappears in the next episode, this must unfortunately be in the form of flashback or hallucination.

An entire universe is waiting to be discovered, as is the successful AMC program The Walking Dead. Fans of the first film will have to spend the year before the premiere of A Quiet Place 2 in the cinemas, but it is expected that more information about the film process will arrive to inspire the project. If Krasinski starts to live again, it will be another reason to visit the film when it opens next year.
